PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller for hybrid vehicles preventing deterioration of the durability of a clutch due to a temperature rise of the clutch connecting an engine selectively with an electric motor.SOLUTION: When an estimated temperature Tc of a clutch K0 released in engine running to switch to motor running is higher than a predetermined overheating criterion α, the release of the clutch K0 is restricted to continue engine running, and when the estimated temperature Tc of the clutch K0 becomes lower than the overheating criterion α, a return from motor running to engine running is allowed. The mechanism enables keeping runnability of a vehicle while suppressing overheating of the clutch K0 due to a temperature rise by a slip occurring in releasing the clutch K0 for shifting from engine running to motor running and resultant deterioration of the durability of the clutch K0. |
