The present invention provides a method and an apparatus to perform test cycles on an electrometer of an environmental radiation monitor through current injection. The environmental radiation monitor comprises: a high pressure ionization chamber; a power supply electrically connected to the high pressure ionization chamber and an electrometer electrically connected to the high pressure ionization chamber. A control unit generates constant current to be injected to the electrometer by controlling the input voltage signal of the power supply provided to the high pressure ionization chamber. The method comprises: a step of changing a voltage signal supplied to the high pressure ionization chamber; a step of measuring a current signal; a step of processing the current signal with the electrometer; and a step of indicating the normal operation of the electrometer by comparing the voltage signal to the expected result. An embodiment of the method comprises a step of initiating a function unit and a step of stopping the function unit. |
