Use of beta-GBP in cancer treatment

Use of b galactoside binding protein ( b GBP) in the manufacture of a medicament for the prevention or treatment of a condition in which disease-associated cell division occurs, wherein the cells which result from said disease associated cell division comprise a cell in respect of which the effect of b GBP is not inhibition of growth, or wherein the cells which result from said disease associated cell division are mitogenically stimulated. The condition may be colon cancer. Also claimed is the use of a mitogen in the manufacture of a medicament for the treatment of a condition in which disease-associated cell division occurs, wherein the cells which result from said disease associated cell division comprise a cell in respect of which the effect of b GBP is not inhibition of growth, or wherein the cells which result from said disease associated cell division are mitogenically stimulated, wherein the treatmen also involves administration of b GBP.
