PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary electric machine for a vehicle capable of quickly terminating high-voltage generation at load dump.SOLUTION: A load dump protection determination unit 140 monitors an output voltage, and when the output voltage becomes larger than a first threshold voltage V1, instructs a controller 100 to turn on a MOS transistor 51 configuring a lower arm. When the output voltage becomes lower than a second threshold voltage V2 lower than the first threshold voltage V1 after the output voltage becomes larger than the first threshold voltage V1, the load dump protection determination unit 140 determines that an intermediate timing of a timing when a drain voltage of the MOS transistor 51 becomes lower than a predetermined voltage and a timing when the drain voltage becomes larger than the predetermined voltage as a timing suitable for suppressing generation of a surge voltage, and waits for an arrival of this timing to instruct the controller 100 to turn off the MOS transistor 51. |
