PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus configured to detect moving direction and an amount of lateral displacement of an intermediate transfer body, to correct and eliminate displacement of a toner image.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 100 includes a process part 1 having a photoreceptor drum 12A, an intermediate transfer belt 21, a sensor 26, a storage part 57, and a control part 200. The control part 200 forms a test toner image on a surface of the photoreceptor drum 12A using test image data stored in the storage part 57. The test toner image is transferred from the photoreceptor drum 12A to a surface of the intermediate transfer belt 21. The control part 200 compares image data of an image read by the sensor 26 from the surface of the intermediate transfer belt 21 with determination image data stored in the storage part 57, to determine an amount of displacement of the read image with respect to an image in the determination area based on the determination image data. The control part 200 performs correction processing based on the amount of displacement when the test toner image cannot fall within the determination area. |
