The module (1) has a module head comprising a module housing and a socket with a socket housing. A light decoupling unit (5) and a light coupling unit (6) are aligned such that light from the light decoupling unit is coupled directly or under a scattered light angle to the light coupling unit. An input side of the decoupling unit and an output side of the coupling unit are optically and directly connected to a light waveguide (3). The socket accommodates the module head, and two optical retaining and/or coupling units are arranged in the socket housing. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a fire detection system (2) a method for optical fire detection.
