[Problem] To provide a non-aqueous secondary battery with a high capacity and good storage characteristics, and an anode active material for forming the non-aqueous secondary battery. [Solution] The problem is solved by the following: a non-aqueous secondary battery anode active material characterized by including a material that includes Si and O in the constituent elements, having an average particle size D50% of 6-10µm as determined by the laser diffraction scattering method, and having a half-width of 0.6-1.0° for the Si (220) diffraction peak determined by an X-ray diffraction method using CuKα rays; and a non-aqueous secondary battery characterized by the use of the non-aqueous secondary battery anode active material and a graphite based carbon material as the anode active materials.
