PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dot impact printer capable of suppress a decrease in throughput of printing while preventing an ink ribbon from being caught by a recording wire owing to magnetic interference between head coils.SOLUTION: A control section of a dot impact printer detects a special dot images from print data of respective lines, and determines a driving mode of a recording head for printing according to the detection result. The control section determines whether a zigzag pattern C is printed in respective columns from the head column to the end column of print data (dot line data) of one line while targeting 24 recording wires in order as an object to be inspected. Then the control section determines that a special bit image A is detected when 12 or more columns where the number of recording wires printing the zigzag pattern C is two or more at at least one of two successive dot positions succeed. Then the control section selects a driving mode in which a head coil driving frequency is set to be low and reduces a printing speed so as to prevent a defect in response of recording wires due to magnetic interference. |
