<p>A device for mixing different (coloured) plastic granules for supply to an injection moulding machine consists of hoppers from which each material is fed through a separate opening. A metering device operates to receive a measured quantity through each opening whilst simultaneously delivering a previously received quantity through one or the other of two outlet openings spaced on either side of the first opening to a receiving chamber. Preferably the metering device is a plate type slide valve with two spaced ports forming metering chambers, and driven by crank and connecting rod so as to dwell at the dead centre positions. The slide valve and a bottom plate are recessed to avoid shearing the granules. Clear and coloured granules in a ratio of 10:1 may be mixed by proportioned openings. The opening for coloured granules is adjustable e.g. by an inserted bush.</p> |
