PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the abandonment amount of ink accompanying channel cleaning into necessary minimum while preventing L value from deteriorating when printing using an ink intermittently which is easy to dry. SOLUTION: A printer 1 includes a head 41 for discharging inks of two or more colors and a mechanism 80 for changing the filling state of ink. The printer 1 also includes a control part 60 for performing processings which comprise the first processing for changing the state from the first filling state that specific ink has been filed up into a filling chamber 70 in the head to the second filling state that ink for preventing the clogging has been filled up therein, the second processing for changing the state from the second filling state to the first filling state, a processing for acquiring the accumulated consumption of the specific ink used for printing after performing the second processing, and a processing for discharging the specific ink to abandon it according to a predetermined procedure in case the accumulated consumption of the obtained specific ink is less than a predetermined amount when resuming the printing with the specific ink without passing through the second filling state after performing the second processing and the printing with the specific ink.
