An annular magnetic core having an outer diameter of not more than 0.6 mm., an inner diameter at least half the outer diameter, a switching time of not more than 0.25 Ásec., and a value of the quotient uV1/dV2 greater than 3 with a disturbance ratio of 0À61 is obtained by sintering the presintered product of a mixture of oxides or equivalent compounds of lithium, nickel and iron in the proportions: 14 to 15 mol. per cent Li 2 O 5 to 7 mol. per cent NiO and 78 to 81 mol. per cent Fe 2 O 3 The core is made by mixing the presintered product with polyvinyl alcohol in water to form a paste, thickening, sieving ont large particles, drying, compressing in the desired shape to a density of 2À3 to 3.0 gm/cm.<SP>3</SP> and sintering according to a specified schedule. Pulse characteristics of the core are given.</p>
