[Also in Group XIX] The selected row and column conductors of an electroluminescent device 41 are subjected to different frequencies f1, f2, the resulting light being applied to a corresponding area 48 on a storage device with areas of differing opacity, the light passing through the storage device being applied to light-sensitive means 43 with an output 47 which is responsive only to the sum or difference of the said frequencies #1+#2 or #1-#2.
