Light module for a headlight of a motor vehicle

The module (10) has a light source i.e. gas discharge lamp (16), transmitting light, and a reflector (14) bundling a portion of the light. A diaphragm roller (22) is extended along a rotation axis (28) that runs horizontal and transverse to an optical axis (42) of the module. The diaphragm roller is rotatable around the rotation axis, where different contours are formed on outer circumference of the roller. A portion of an outer circumferential surface of the roller is provided with a silvering unit. A sensor monitors a rotary position of the roller around the rotation axis.
