PURPOSE: A sewage and wastewater treating method using a porous metallic hollow fiber filtering material and an apparatus for the same are provided to increase the life of the filtering material by preventing the filtering material from being damaged. CONSTITUTION: A sewage and wastewater treating method includes the steps of: separating solid materials from sewage and wastewater in an anaerobic bath (503) and reducing the loads of organic materials in the sewage and wastewater; putting the sewage and wastewater into an anoxic bath (504) to be denitrified; nitrifying the denitrified sewage and wastewater in an aerobic bath (505); returning the nitrified sewage and wastewater to the anoxic bath; filtering sewage and wastewater which are discharged from the aerobic bath and are not transferred to the anoxic bath in a filtering bath equipped with a porous metallic hollow fiber filtering material (A).
