PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that the operation amount becomes huge in an image processing operation for improving motion blur in a hold type display.SOLUTION: An image display device includes: a motion vector outputting part for outputting a motion vector generated on the basis of a first input frame and a second input frame which are successively input video signals; a composite frame outputting part for generating interpolation sub-frames from the motion vector, the first input frame and the second input frame and outputting a composite frame obtained by synthesizing a plurality of interpolation sub-frames in one flame; a scan back light control part for generating a control signal for a back light on the basis of a timing when the composite frame is output from the composite frame outputting part; and an image display part having the back light as a light source and turning-on the backlight according to the control signal output from the scan back light control part to display an image of the composite frame.
