PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress an increase in power consumption and deterioration in performance of a freezer by shortening power running drive time of an expander in the freezer including a refrigerant circuit configured by connecting a compressor, a radiator, the expander and an evaporator.SOLUTION: A refrigerant circuit (10) in a freezer (1) includes a compressor (21), radiators (23, 62a, 62b), an expander (38), and evaporators (62a, 62b, 23). The expander (38) includes an expansion element (38a) and an electric generator (38b) that performs regenerative drive which is carried out as an electric generator by electric power generated in the expansion element (38a) after power running drive which is carried out as an electric motor is performed at the start of operation. In the freezer (1), the refrigerant circuit (10) includes a suction return pipe (31) for bypassing a refrigerant from the downstream side of the expander (38) to the suction side of the compressor (21), and at the start of operation, a suction return valve (31d) provided to the suction return pipe (31) is opened to start the expander (38). |
