[Also in Division B5] A container made from cellulosic fibres by means of an artificial bonding agent, e.g. phenol- or urea-formaldehyde resin, has a covering of bi-axially orientated resin heat sealed directly to it. The covering is preferably a transparent sheet of polystyrene, but may be isotatic polyethylene or polypropylene, styrene copolymers, polyacrylates, polymethacrylates, polycarbonates, polyvinyl chloride or polyethylene terephthalates. The container may be a rectilinear tray and the covering sheet flat, moulded to any shape desired by a thermo forcing process, or shrunk by radiant heat after heat sealing. The cover has a thickness of between 0.0005 and 0.020 inches. |
