Provided is a pneumatic tire such that on-snow cornering performance on a snow-covered road surface and cornering performance on an icy road surface are improved. This pneumatic tire is characterized by having a treaded section (1) that forms a tread surface (5) that comes into contact with the road surface when the tire is rolling, a pair of sidewall sections (3) that form side surfaces of the tire and extend inward in the radial direction of the tire from the treaded section (1), and buttress sections that are constructed by forming outer surface areas (7) that extend from the edges of the tread surface (5) in the width direction to the sidewall sections (3) and by creating polygonal blocks (11) in the outer surface areas (7) by partitioning the areas by grooves. |
