In a transistor energy recovery type sawtooth current generator, the damping diode has a reverse breakdown which occurs before the output transistor breakdown so as to protect the transistor and permit it to be operated nearer to its limiting conditions. The embodiments (Figs. 3, 5 and 6, not shown) illustrate energy recovery into a series (B boost) capacitor (28) and into the supply source (Figs. 3 and 6), the latter circuits having the diode connected directly across the series connection of the output circuit and supply source or via addition turns on the primary of the output transformer.</p> |
