Disclosed are an apparatus for automatically operating a turn signal light of a vehicle and a method thereof, which are provided to prevent a safety accident in advance by automatically operating a turn signal light according to front and rear side vehicle circumstances when a driver changes a lane unintentionally in case the driver does not operate the turn signal light. The disclosed apparatus for automatically operating a turn signal light of a vehicle comprises: a steering condition detecting part for detecting a steering condition of a vehicle; a front and rear side vehicle detecting part for taking an image of a front and rear side vehicle, and for detecting vehicles from the taken images; a vehicle speed detecting part for detecting the speed of the vehicle; a controlling part for judging whether a vehicle exists around or not through the front and rear side vehicle detecting part in case the steering condition detecting part detects a direction conversion of the vehicle, and for generating a signal for automatically operating a turn signal light corresponding to the conversion direction of the vehicle depending on the speed of the vehicle; and a turn signal light operating part for automatically operating the turn signal light in a corresponding direction depending on the automatically operating signal generated from the controlling part.
