PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new support for catalyst for exhaust gas purification including a ceria-zirconia composite oxide having pyrochlore phase, having high OSC capability in both temperature ranges of low temperature (in the vicinity of 400°C) and high temperature (in the vicinity of 800°C).SOLUTION: The support for catalyst for exhaust gas purification includes a ceria-zirconia composite oxide having pyrochlore phase, and having a specific surface area of 7.0 m/g or more and a crystallite diameter of 100 Å to 700 Å.
