1,074,486. Analogue-to-digital converters. HAWKER SIDDELEY DYNAMICS Ltd. Dec. 2, 1965 [Nov. 23, 1964], No. 47630/64. Heading G4H. An analogue-to-digital converter adapted to compare an analogue signal with selected limit values, comprises a digital storage register, the output of which is converted to an analogue signal for comparison with the input signal, the output of the comparator normally causing the digital storage register to change until the feed-back voltage balances the input signal, there also being alternative inputs to the digital storage register for the entry of a digital representation of any selected limit, the output of the comparator indicating whether the input is more or less than this. The comparator consists of a simple junction, the difference being amplified (19, Fig. 2, not shown) and applied to a control circuit (12) which causes the register stages to set in turn and reset if the input is exceeded. The limit value is entered from terminals (25) through gates (28) and Or gates (26). When the line (29) is energized the gates (28) open to enter the limit value in register (11) and the control circuit is inhibited so that the normal balancing operation is suspended. The signal on line (30) indicates whether the limit value is exceeded or not. |
