Provided is a carotenoid-containing oil-in-water emulsion composition that: comprises a carotenoid, a higher fatty acid that has a total of 12 or more carbon atoms and that is included at a ratio of 0.001 to 2 times the mass of the carotenoid, and a surfactant other than the higher fatty acid having a total of 12 or more carbon atoms; and that has an average emulsion particle size of 120 nm or less.
