A hollow decorative ball for a Christmas tree comprises two hemispherical shell halves 1, 2, Fig. 1, having rim flanges 3, 4, between which is welded a thin foil wall 5 to which is secured a musical box mechanism 9 having a winding wheel and cord 13. In another form, Fig. 2, the musical box mechanism is secured to a centre wall 21 of die-cast plastics material, having an opening 28 for the winding wheel and lugs 29 for guiding the string. In another form, Fig. 4, a bell-shaped decoration comprises a musical box secured to a wall 33 secured to a bottom cover-plate 32 and fixed in place by means of a screw 42. A further form of decorative ball comprises a cup-shaped supporting plate 51, Fig. 7, with an opening 52 for the wheel, dividing the ball into halves of unequal area, the larger area containing sweets or the like. |
