PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal aligning material excellent in adhesiveness with a base film and suitable for a retardation film of a liquid crystal display element.SOLUTION: The liquid crystal aligning agent comprises inorganic oxide particles in which a group having a cinnamic acid structure is bonded to the particle surface. The liquid crystal aligning agent exhibits good adhesiveness and liquid crystal aligning property at a low treatment temperature, and thereby, even when a base film having low heat resistance is used, a retardation film with high quality can be obtained without decreasing characteristics of the film. |
