Embodiments of the present invention provide a channel measurement method and apparatus. The method includes: configuring, for each frequency band of N frequency bands having a same carrier frequency, according to a measurement demand, reference signal information corresponding to each frequency band, so that reference signal densities included in configured reference signal information of at least two frequency bands of the N frequency bands are different, where N is a positive integer greater than or equal to 2, the reference signal information refers to information required to generate a reference signal, the reference signal density refers to a distribution density on a time domain or a distribution density on a frequency domain of the reference signal or a pattern of the reference signal; and notifying a user equipment of the reference signal information, so that the user equipment performs channel measurement according to the reference signal information. |
