The joist 50, for use in roof or floor supports, comprises parallel, spaced apart, upper 52 and lower 54 timber beams linked by one or more elongate metal braces 56 which comprise a nail plate 58, 60 at each end having integral teeth to secure them to a surface 53a, 55a of each beam. At least one nail plate is further secured with an additional anchoring plate 1 which may comprise at least two teeth formed by punching a flat plate of galvanised steel so that they extend perpendicularly from the plate. The teeth may be formed in diagonally opposed pairs and may be half the length of the plate. Also claimed is an anchoring enhancement plate. |
