PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contact surface pressure detection mattress which detects a contact surface pressure using a layer of pressure detection material.SOLUTION: A patient support surface or a mattress 10 has a cover 12 defining an interior region and a core 14 positioned in the interior region. A contact surface pressure detection sheet assembly 16 is provided in the interior region. Above the core 14 and beneath the cover 12, the sheet assembly 16 has a lattice of longitudinally extending straps 50 and laterally extending straps 52 that are made of a contact surface pressure detection material. The lattice has gaps 60 through which the cover 12 presses against the core 14. The laterally extending straps 52 are provided over relatively high pressure zones of the core 14, such as a heel, sacral and/or occiput zone, and are not provided over the other zones of the core 14. |
