PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a single or multiple stage, e.g., two or more stages, variable-speed blower assembly that provides faster pressure response time with increased reliability and less acoustic noise, and in a smaller package.SOLUTION: A blower according to the present invention includes a blower motor assembly M supporting opposed first and second shaft ends 258 and 260. First and second impellers 244 and 248 are attached to the first and second shaft ends 258 and 260, respectively, and are enclosed within first and second volutes 247 and 251, respectively. The first volute 247 is connected to an inlet 264 and the second volute 251 is connected to an outlet 276. The blower motor assembly M is supported in a chassis 238, an inter-stage path is arranged radially outwardly between the first and second volutes 247 and 251, and the second volute 251 is arranged partially substantially concentrically nested with the inter-stage gas path arranged radially outwardly. |
