[Also in Division G2] A scribing material is prepared by coating a transparent or translucent support with a layer of a composition prepared by a method comprising dispersing a high-boiling, waterimmiscible, crystalloidal organic compound substantially free from dissolved substances, in an aqueous gelatin dispersion. The crystalloidal organic compound may have a boiling point of 175‹C or more and have average droplet or particle size of from 0.5 to 10.0 microns. The support may be glass or a photographic film base. The coating composition may contain a dye or pigment and may be a photographic silver halide emulsion such as a high-contrast silver chlorobromide emulsion containing at least 60 mole percent silver chloride, up to 40 mole per cent of silver bromide and up to 5 mole per cent of silver iodide.</p> |
