Assembly and method for cooling a superconducting cable

The arrangement has a tubular core, and a cryostat (KR) for accommodating a superconducting cable (4). The cryostat consists of a thermally insulated pipe that encloses a hollow cavity for conducting flowable cooling medium, where axial ends of the cable and cryostat are connected at an end closure (2) and/or a connection point. A feed point (19) and an outlet (20) for the cooling medium are attached to the end closure. The feed point is connected with the hollow cavity. A lock (21) is attached to the end closure between the hollow cavity and an inner area (15) of the end closure. The lock is designed as a disk made from stainless steel or glass fiber-reinforced plastic. An independent claim is also included for a method for cooling a superconducting cable.
