PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer printing medium and a smear preventing method for the printing medium, which make it difficult, even if a thermal transfer printer 1 is kept in a printing standby state for a long time, that ink of a thermal transfer ink ribbon 20 is transferred at a stopped position of the thermal transfer printing medium (wristband continuum 30), and can thereby prevent the ink of the thermal transfer ink ribbon 20 from being transferred and smearing the thermal transfer printing medium.SOLUTION: By noticing the reduction in printability only in the printing standby area of a thermal transfer printing medium 30, part of a medium body 6 is provided with a printing area 14 where printing by a printing device 5 is carried out, and a printing standby area that is different from the printing area 14 and is held by a thermal head 18 and a platen roller 19 in the printing device 5 and where printing action by a thermal transfer printer 1 is stopped is used as a free-from-ink-transfer area 32, to which no ink of the thermal transfer ink ribbon 20 transfers. |
