The present disclosure relates to an apparatus and method for preventing a tire from being damaged. An apparatus for preventing a tire from being damaged according to the present disclosure varies a preset speed limit of a vehicle depending on the low-pressure level of a tire in order to restrict the travel speed of the vehicle when the air pressure of the tire becomes lower than a regulated value, thereby reducing the stress on the tire and preventing the tire from reaching an explosion condition in advance. According to the present disclosure, while a danger speed limit is calculated according the temperature and the pressure of a tire and is informed to a driver, the travel speed of a vehicle can be controlled even without operation by the driver. Particularly, the danger speed limit of the vehicle is displayed to lead the driver to drive the car in more safety, and the travel speed of the vehicle can be controlled even without operation by the driver, thereby preventing the tire from being damaged.
