The device i.e. Coriolis mass flow measuring device (1), has measuring tubes (2, 3) arranged in closed housings (10, 16). Signal receivers (12, 13) generate a measurement signal relative to a physical/chemical parameter of a gas medium. An evaluation device (21) receives the signal to determine and evaluate a measured value of the parameter. Resistive sensors (14, 25) are arranged in the closed housings to generate a resistance signal. The evaluation device monitors the resistance signal to maintain a predetermined criterion and outputs a signal to indicate error condition. An independent claim is also included for a method for monitoring a housing interior of a process instrumentation field device.
