A method and an apparatus for controlling a legacy device are provided to control another device through one remote controller, thereby improving user's convenience. Device information and a remote control code are inserted into a vertical retrace line removing interval, when a remote controller command is inputted, and transmitted to another device. The device information and remote control code are extracted from the vertical retrace line removing interval received in another device and are made in a database. When the database information is compared with the device information and the remote control code, a remote controller command is executed if the database information coincides with the device information. |
