An image diagnostic device (20) being one embodiment of the present invention consumes external power, generates image data for a subject, and has charge/discharge elements (BA1, ... BAn) and charge/discharge control circuits (140, 152). The charge/discharge elements are charged by the external power and supply, by discharging, part of the electricity consumed by the image diagnostic device. The charge/discharge control circuits control the charging/discharging of the charge/discharge elements, such that: discharging of the charge/discharge elements occurs during the period that the electrical consumption is greater than a prescribed power amount; and charging of the charge/discharge elements occurs during the period that the electrical consumption is less than the prescribed power amount.
