PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manuscript reading device that can increase maintainability by facilitating the attachment/detachment of a reading unit provided to the inside of a U-shaped manuscript conveyance pathway formed in a manuscript conveyance device.SOLUTION: The manuscript reading device comprises: the U-shaped manuscript conveyance pathway 12, which reaches from a paper supply tray 10 to a paper discharge tray 11 with a reading section therebetween; and a reading unit 3, which is disposed inside the U-shaped manuscript conveyance pathway 12. In the manuscript reading device, a downstream portion of the paper supply tray 10 where a manuscript is placed and a guide member 31 provided upstream of the manuscript conveyance pathway 12 contiguous with the paper supply tray 10 are configured to be attachable to and detachable from the paper supply tray 10 or the manuscript conveyance pathway 12; and the reading unit 3 can be removed from the inside of the U-shaped manuscript conveyance pathway 12 from an opening resulting from removing a downstream portion of the paper supply tray 10 and the guide member 31 of the manuscript conveyance pathway 12. |
