The load cell (1) has a resilient deformable base portion (2) which is provided with a measuring end (3) and an attachment end (4), and arranged in a measuring direction (6). A SAW sensor (7) is mounted between the measuring end and the attachment end, and secured at the base portion. The SAW sensor is biased at the base portion and operated against the measuring direction. The SAW sensor is closed by a case (12) which is formed of titanium nickel alloy. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a method for pre-tensioning of the SAW sensor of SAW load cell; and (2) a method for assembling the SAW load cell.
