[Also in Divisions F3-F4] In a piezo-electrically ignited gas-fuelled smokers lighter with piezo-electric elements 9, 10 a rockable striking member 24 is pivoted on a transverse shaft 22 and is actuated by a member 21 pivoted on the same shaft and rockable in the same direction as the member 24. The actuating member 21 is urged outwardly from the lighter casing by a spring 23 and a spring 25 engages both member 21 and a transverse pin (not shown) on the striker member 24. In operation member 21 is pushed manually against the force of spring 23, a notch 24a on member 24 engaging a nose 26<1> on a spring-urged stop-piece 26 to prevent rotation of the member 24 and cause spring 25 to become compressed, and as further pressure is applied the member 24 disengages from the stop-piece 26 and under the influence of spring 25 strikes a member 13 secured to the upper end of element 9 to cause a spark to be generated at electrodes 15, 20.</p> |
