<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently perform image processing on a stereoscopic moving image. <P>SOLUTION: A moving image type determination unit determines whether an input moving image is a stereoscopic image (S1001). When the moving image is a stereoscopic image, a stereoscopic image identifier is set to be "1" (S1002), and a moving image rotation unit rotates the moving image by +90°to the right or by -90°to the left (S1004). However, when the moving image is not a stereoscopic image, the stereoscopic image identifier is set to be "0" (S1003), and the moving image is not rotated. Then, a moving image interlace coding unit performs interlace coding on the moving image to create a coded bit stream (S1005), and a stereoscopic image identifier coding unit codes the stereoscopic image identifier to create coded information (S1006).
