The present invention provides a separator for an electrochemical cell and a method for preparing the same. The separator has not only excellent mechanical strength and thermal resistance by uniaxial orientation at preset temperature after combining and pressing out a quasi-crystalline polymer composite and an amorphous polymer composite such as a high performance plastic but also an adequate ventilation path.
