PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processing method for an outer peripheral surface of a workpiece which has continuous workability.SOLUTION: A processing method for a workpiece 1 includes a process of supporting the workpiece 1 by a driving roll 12 and a second roll 14 which are arranged in parallel with an axial direction, and a press member 16 arranged opposite to both the driving roll 12 and second roll 14. The driving roll 12 has an abrupt diameter increase part 18 which abruptly increases in diameter downstream in a movement direction of the workpiece 1 along the axial direction. The processing method further includes a process of processing the outer peripheral surface 2 by irradiating the outer peripheral surface 2 with laser light 38 from a tangential direction of the outer peripheral surface 2 while rotating the workpiece 1, and moving the workpiece 1 in the axial direction through the abrupt diameter increase part 18.
