Flight data validation apparatus and method

A flight data validation method is described which comprises the steps of receiving flight data comprising a set of parameters sampled at time intervals to provide a series of data values for each parameter. A first validation is carried out on the data values to determine a pass or fail and generating a first stage result data set. A second validation is carried on the data that passed the first validation and a second pass or fail is determined to provide a second stage result data set. A validation report is then generated which comprises the first stage result data and the second stage result data. In this way, if an expected relationship is not present in the received flight data it can be inferred that one or more of the parameters include faulty data which cannot be trusted in assessing the operational performance of the aircraft.
