The server processing system (200) receives, from a seller terminal system (220, 221, 222), request data indicative of a seller’s request to auction an asset. A real-time auction is opened via an auction portal (210) hosted by the server processing system (200) for auctioning the asset. The server processing system (200) is able to receive and distribute auction activity data in real-time to and from one or more bidder terminal systems (230, 231, 232). Using the auction activity data, a determination is made if the auction of the asset has satisfied a close condition of the real-time auction. The real time auction of the asset is then closed in response to the close condition being satisfied. The server processing system (200) is further configured to receive, prior to opening the real time auction for the asset, a proxy bid request from a bidder (235, 236, 237) and determine, based upon historical sales data, a highest bid value. One or more bids are submitted on behalf of the respective bidder associated with the proxy bid request during the real time auction of the asset if the one or more bids fail to exceed the highest bid value. |
