The method involves transporting a heavyweight foundation (10) and a vertical shaft (14) for supporting a tower of a wind energy plant (WEA) by a floating body (22) as a unit to a work place. The unit is lowered on a seabed at the work place. A bottom of a setting surface is fluidized by pressure water for a concrete annular base body (12). The base body is countersinked into the seabed by simultaneous displacement of fluidized bottom material to a side due to weight load of the base body. The foundation is temporarily preloaded by ballast bodies engaged at the foundation in a limited manner. The shaft is designed as a latticed mast. The heavyweight foundation is a shallow foundation and a pile foundation.
