PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable more effective processing of stroke groups.SOLUTION: According to an embodiment, a handwritten document processing apparatus comprises a stroke acquisition unit, a stroke group generation unit, and an additional information generation unit. The stroke acquisition unit acquires stroke data. The stroke group generation unit generates stroke groups each composed of one or a plurality of strokes satisfying a predetermined criterion on the basis of the stroke data. The additional information generation unit generates additional information indicating a relationship between one of the stroke groups and another of the stroke groups, and adds it to the one of the stroke groups.
