PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery that has excellent output characteristics in a low-temperature environment.SOLUTION: A non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery 10 comprises: a flat electrode body 14 that has a positive electrode plate and a negative electrode plate; a bottomed, cylindrical square outer can 25 that houses the flat electrode body 14 and a non-aqueous electrolytic solution and that has an opening; and a sealing body 23 that seals the opening in the square outer can 25. The entire electrode body 14 other than a surface thereof facing the sealing body 23 is covered with an insulating sheet 24. The non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery 10 is manufactured by use of a non-aqueous electrolytic solution containing lithium difluorophosphate (LiPFO). A battery outer package is formed by the square outer can 25 and the sealing body 23, and has an outer surface area of 350 cmor more.
