PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head-mounted information input/output device and a head-mounted information input/output method that are capable of improving usability.SOLUTION: A head-mounted information input/output device comprises: a display unit 60 that displays an image on a screen with variable transmittance of light; a detection unit that detects a state of the display unit 60; and a processing unit that determines the transmittance of the screen in accordance with the state of the display unit 60, displays an image on the screen with a first display pattern when the transmittance is determined to be equal to or greater than a predetermined threshold, and displays an image on the screen with a second display pattern when the transmittance is determined to be smaller than the predetermined threshold.
