The present invention provides a vehicle transmission unit and a control method thereof. The vehicle transmission unit includes a housing unit on the outer side of a driver's seat of a vehicle; a substrate mounted on the housing unit; a unit knob unit which is mounted on the housing unit to be movable; and a rotary sensing unit sensing the rotation of the unit knob unit. The rotary sensing unit changes a transmission range of a vehicle by sensing the state of the rotation of the unit knob unit.
