The carrier (100) has a base plate (110) comprising two fluid channels (130, 135) and receiving two battery cells. A lateral plate (120) is provided with a partial section that is connected with an edge surface of the base plate, and another partial section that is designed as a side surface of the battery cells. The lateral plate comprises a terminal (140) for the fluid channels. A biasing element is arranged between another lateral plate and a pre-loading plate that is aligned parallel to the latter lateral plate. The base plate comprises a groove for retaining the latter lateral plate. The biasing element is designed as a flat spring, a pre-loading plate or an elastomer. The two fluid channels are designed as a cooling passage and a degassing channel, respectively. The base plate is designed as a cooling plate or an assembly carrier. An independent claim is also included for a method for assembling a battery module for a vehicle.
